ORCA and PANINI provided 100.000 meals for animals that need them the most!

With great pleasure we share the news that together with brand PANINI we have provided 100.000 meals for animals that need them the most!

In that effort we were helped by children and their parents who bought the “stickers that protect animals” for the album “Animal Friends Mission”. A part of the profit made from selling the album and stickers, valued 5.200 EUR, PANINI dedicated to ORCA for supporting the care for animals in Serbia.

That is why we have opened the public call in October of 2018, calling for all organisations, shelters and individuals caring for abandoned dogs and cats responsibly, as well as caring for wild birds in nature and horses (in shelters and those that live free in nature) to apply for receiving food for animals.

At the same time, based on the Internal Regulation on the procurement procedure for procurements of small value, ORCA Committee for procurements of small value opened a public call for procurement and transport of the dog and cat food. A dog and cat food supplier “PREMIL” has been selected in January of 2019. In order to decrease the costs for transport and increase amount of food bought, it was decided that the food for horses be procured from local suppliers.

39 organisations, shelters and individuals that care for animals have answered our call. The selection of those who received the donation was conducted by a separate ORCA committee, based on the filled in introductory questionnaire about needs and manner of caring for animals, conversation and visits where that was needed, especially paying attention to animal welfare and responsible ownership. From 39 applications, questionnaire was filled in by 23, while 20 organisations, shelters and individuals were selected for receiving the donation.
